Shirley Barnhart
Owner
Shirley M. Barnhart, dealer operator of Smith Buick-Pontiac-GMC , is a 30 year resident of Rutland Town with her husband Joe, owner of Aldous Funeral Home, Inc. Shirley, a business/retailing graduate of Green Mountain College, was a realtor in the Rutland area for 15 years. Shirley and Joe partnered in 1988 to purchase Smith Buick-GMC from Stewart Smith. In 1993, Shirley became the dealer operator. In 1997, Joe and Shirley obtained the Pontiac franchise and changed the name to Smith Buick-Pontiac-GMC. At that time, plans for the expansion of the service department were designed to double it's size and to include first in the area state-of-the-art air quality systems along with a second in-house training room with interdistance learning from General Motors.
The Barnharts take great pride in making all their clients and employees feel comfortable while at the dealership. Service is the number one priority of this family friendly dealership.
Don Smith
GMC Truck Manager
Don Smith, an area native, attended the School of International Business Administration at the University of Miami, and brings over 25 years of experience in the Automotive Industry to Smith Buick-Pontiac-GMC. He's currently a member of GM's Mark of Excellence, the Truck Marketing Institute, GMC Retail Professionals Program, as well as the Buick and Pontiac Retail Professional Programs and GM Internet Management Certification. Handling our commercial and municipal accounts, he's well versed in the capabilities of our GMC Professional Grade Trucks and their compatability with aftermarket bodies, up-fits and accessories, assuring you just the right truck for your job. Don can also advise customers on the availabilty of GM in-house programs such as assistance for municipalities, Business Choice, and other commercial incentives.
Don is an automotive artist of note, with paintings in collections across the country, is a founding artist member of the Automotive Gallery & Artists Society, and winner of numerous design competitions sponsored by GMI. He resides in Mendon and is dad to a wonderful daughter, Maddy.
Kelly Barnhart
Office Administrator
Kelly A. Barnhart, born and raised in Rutland Town, is a graduate of Mill River High School and a business graduate of Vermont Technical College. She joined the staff of Smith Buick-Pontiac-GMC while attending college. Initially Kelly worked in the Service Department learning the "back end" of this customer service oriented business first hand. Kelly has joined her family by involving herself in many aspects of the business. Her official title is Office Manager, however, often she may be found in service, with a client in sales, verifying the certification of the used inventory or helping in any aspect of the business.
Clarence McMahon

Clarence McMahon, Jr, Super Sales Associate, is well known in the Rutland area. Having been born and raised in the Rutland area, Clarence (also known as Junior), has been involved in the automobile business for more than 35 years. Clarence originally joined the staff of Smith Buick-Pontiac-GMC in 1989 and has stayed abreast of all the changes the industry has had to offer. He is a Certified Performer in the GM Mark of Excellence Program and is certified in the GMC Retail Professionals Program, the Buick Retail Professionals Program, and the Pontiac Retail Professionals Program.

Thomas Lertola

Thomas Lertola is a graduate of Proctor High School in Vermont and Becker College of Worcester Massachusetts. Married 44 years to Judi, has one son, Todd and a Daughter-In-Law Marcia, has served in every aspect of the automotive business for 47 years.
Tom served with the Vermont Air National Guard. Tom's community involvement includes: Director and Vice President of the Lake Bomoseen Association, Trustee and PResident of Neshobe Beach Club of Vermont, Corporator of Rutland Regional Medical Center, Volunteer for Rutland Regional Medical Center, 43 Year member of Elks Club of Rutland, and past member of Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce.
Chad Mills

Chad Mills, Sales Manager, is a ten year member of our staff and is pleased to serve your automotive needs in any way he can. Chad is a 2004 graduate of Castleton State College where he majored in communications. Music and flying are Chad's passions. He's our resident 'pilot' and occasionally has been known to play the piano located in the dealership showroom. Chad lives in Rutland with his wife Adrienne and their four children. You'll know that you're speaking with him if you hear the words "How may I serve you today?"

He's a graduate of the Williams and Associates Sales Training School and of Adirondack Community College. Already enrolled in GM's Mark of Excellence Program and knowledgable about our GMC's, Buicks and Pontiacs, Ryan is looking forward to an exciting year serving new customers and old friends.
